Review:
This is the first book in a horror series that focuses on babysitters. Each book is a stand-alone story that spans four novels. I have to admit, I never heard of this obscure series. I noticed a promo in the back of one of my YA horror novels, so I snatched these books up on Ebay recently. I'm really glad I did!
The plot is pretty original for YA horror and deals with a babysitter taking care of a 7 year old boy at (where else?) an isolated beach house for three weeks. It just so happens an evil cult is after the kid and wants to sacrifice him to their god. And did I mention the boy has psychic powers? The premise may sound a bit goofy but author Daniel Parker makes it all work.
The book immediately sucks you in and rarely lets up. Suspense and scares abound and lead to an open-ended conclusion. Sadly, a direct sequel to this story never happened. That's not to say the ending is unsatisfying, it's just not all wrapped up in a neat bow as most YA horror is.
Seek this one out! You won't be disappointed.
